There are many traditional ways of displaying Temari - see notes elsewhere on the site - but one of the most popular is setting them individually on a small ring base. A very effective - and potentially elegant - way of doing this is by using the stands that may be purchased to display decorated eggs... or other small round or ring shaped items such as napkin rings or decorative curtain/drapery rings (thanks to J. Shorten for this suggestion).
It
is also very easy to make a ring base from a strip of medium weight cardboard,
wrapped with yarn or thread to compliment or match an individual Temari
- and of course the size can be adjusted for a custom fit to the size of
the ball. My additional thought - rather than wrapping the cardboard core
it may be covered with felt or other non-ravelling fabric or perhaps decorative
paper such as washi or origami rice paper... do this before forming
the ring. (Illustration obtained from a Japanese book whose ISBN or copyright
info was not identifiable or translatable - it is not my intention to pirate
the author's work).
