Temari Gathering - September 2004
Anne W. pulled off another mini-gathering at her home in Indiana in
September 2004; Sue H and Eric C joined Anne for a weekend of fun -
here's the rundown:
Friday evening after Sue and Eric
arrived we had supper, then Sue brought our her supplies to make washi
eggs. Kathryn (Anne's daughter) joined in, and we started gluing
and lacquering. The process of coating our eggs with the lacquer took
all weekend. The more coats applied, the better it looks, so whenever
we would think of it, and the last coat was dry, we'd put down our
needles and pick up a brush. Despite our efforts, they all turned
out to be very nice!
Saturday we made a little trip to
a nearby yarn shop and had a wonderful time. It's a quaint little
shop in a small building behind the owner's house. They had
wonderful fibers. Eric and I went crazy over the Sheep's Silk and
mohair yarn, and Sue picked up some pretty metallic. One of the
colors that has Eric's interest at the time is apple green. He
bought some mohair that color and it was beautiful, however, after
wrapping his mari, we all decided it looked like a tennis ball!
I'm eager to see how the stitching changes that impression.
When dinner time came the Chinese
buffet was our dinner destination; with full tummies we then stitched
late into the night on Saturday. When we could no longer focus,
we went to bed.
Sunday morning, we ate, AGAIN,
talked, exchanged some fibers, set a date for our next gathering, and
they both went home. A very relaxing weekend, but greatly enjoyed!
