Temari
Canada January 2005
Harrison Hot Springs, B.C. Canada
The get-together Louise O'Donnell, Lynne Dare, and I (Linda Deugau) had
on Jan. 25th and 26th in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., Canada was a
terrific success! Louise and Lynne arrived around 11 a.m. with
bags and bags of temari, temari supplies, and books galore! The first
thing we did was dump the temari all over the bed, and oohed and ahhed
at them all. We climbed onto the bed and had my DH take a picture
of us with the beautifully coloured and embroidered balls.
Then we got down to business... We started by Louise and Lynne
showering me with threads, and nifty accessories I hadn't seen
before. I wouldn't have a clue how to use some of these items if
it weren't for their guidance. The next thing we knew it was time
for lunch. We wandered down the street to a neat little Fish
&
Chip place, filled our tummies, and back to the hotel we went.
Now it was time for them to teach me how to mark a C8. I started
out pretty awkward, but they soon got me on track, and the ball is
ready for stitching. I looked at all their Japanese Temari books,
and they took a peek at the two Japanese Temari books I purchased at
Sophia Books in Vancouver prior to leaving for Harrison Hot
Springs. I was so surprised I had actually bought two they didn't
have...
It was soon 4 o'clock and time for Louise and Lynne to head home.
We made plans to get together on Wednesday. The girls picked me
up around 11:30 a.m. We went to a new yarn shop, had lunch at Tim
Horton's (where Lynne and I had a fight over the bill...but I won!) did
a couple more errands, and then it was off to Lynne's. I met
Pickles (the white Maltese) and Cricket (a cute little gray poodle) and
spent the afternoon going through the Japanese books, making notes of
the ones I really *need* to have. Lynne served us afternoon tea
and delicious chocolate cake! Louise and her DH
drove me back to the hotel just before dinner.
The three of us had a wonderful time and I learned ***lots***!!!! Many
thanks to these two terrific ladies for being so generous and kind to a
beginner temari embroiderer. Take care, Linda :)
