PDF files: As of July 2004 all new pattern and how-to pages on
TemariKai include PDF versions. Previously posted files will be
retrofitted
with them as time
allows. Using Adobe PDF Files: PDF files are
cross-platform document files originally created to share files so that
everyone sees and prints a nicely formatted page. Web browsers allow
you to adjust your own settings for print size etc, but this means that
no matter how hard webmasters try to lay out
pages, things get garbled when you print
pages. PDF files allow you to print the pattern in a consistent "nice"
format -
things stay in the right place on the page, regardless of your
computer, browser or operating system ( this works for both
Windows and Mac). Web browsers generally include Adobe
Acrobat Reader as a plugin to automatically handle PDF files when you
encounter them (information that normally needs to be presented in
printed format usually is offered as PDF files). To use the PDF
format for Temari
Patterns, click on the "Download PDF file of this pattern" link on the
pattern page when you view it in your web browser. If you
have Adobe Reader as a plugin to your browser the PDF file will open
within your browser using Adobe Reader. Click on "Save Copy" to save
the PDF file to your computer (web page and PDF pattern files have the
same name, but the web page ends with .html and the Adobe file ends
with .pdf). If you do not have the reader as a plugin and it's a
separate program, just save the file to your computer. Either way, once
the file has been saved you can open, view and print the file in proper
consistent format at any time (you don't need to be connected to the
internet) using the Adobe
Reader program. If you do not
have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader
for pdf files you can download it from the Adobe site:
